An Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship was awarded to Jolijn Onvlee. She finished her PhD at the Radboud University Nijmegen in The Netherlands (2016) and started her post-doctoral research in January 2017 in the CFEL Controlled Molecule Imaging group of Jochen Küpper at DESY. During the next two years, the Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship will allow her to study the ultrafast dynamics of hydrogen bond formation and breaking in the solute-water complexes.
Jolijn Onvlee plans to utilize state-of-the-art computational modeling with novel laser-induced-electron-diffractive imaging to unravel the elementary steps formation and breaking of hydrogen bonds that are ubiquitous and relevant in (bio)chemical interactions, for instance, in the molecular complex indole-water.
The Humboldt Foundation promotes research collaborations between excellent foreign and German researchers. A Humboldt Research Fellowship for postdoctoral researchers allows to carry out long-term research in Germany.
