Only persons who have made themselves aware of the regulations for safety and radiation protection are permitted to work at DESY Photon Science.
To obtain the permission to work at Photon Science Facilities users have to fulfill the following requirements.
Computer Based Safety Training (CBT)
If it is your first stay at DESY Photon Science or if you have done your last safety training more than 6 months ago please complete the DESY Photon Science Online Safety Training via our DOOR system. The certificate obtained at the end of the training can be faxed to +49 (0)40 8994-4141. Details of the procedure can be found in the safety training.
You can check the validity of your safety certificates via DOOR.
DESY Access Control Handling System (DACHS Card)
The accelerators PETRA III, FLASH as well as laboratories, mechanical workshops and PETRA III experimental areas are secured by the access control system DACHS (DESY ACcess Handling System) against trespassing.
A valid DACHS card is needed to work in these areas or to activate the interlock respectively. No DACHS card is needed for access to the FLASH experimental halls.
Users can obtain their DACHS card
• in bldg. 6/ R110 (Mon-Thu 8:00-12:00 and 13:00-16:00, Fri 8:00-12:00 and 13:00-14:00).
• outside office hours at the DESY main entrance, Notkestr. 85 (7 days, 24h).
• ONLY in exceptional cases the DACHS Cards can be obtained in the Users' Office. (bldg. 47c, room L106).
Before you can use your DACHS card to get access to the respective areas please
• complete and validate the appropriate safety training modules (computer based via DOOR, validation in Users’ Office).
• complete and register necessary on-site instructions by the persons in charge of the respective laboratory or beamline.
