Vaccination and test requirements for users coming to PETRA III / FLASH

  • a proof of full vaccination/recovery is required for participation in beamtime.
  • a negative PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 with the result being available before entering the DESY campus. The test result must not be older than 48 hrs. Vaccination or recovery from Covid-19 will not release users from this obligation.
  • Do not come to DESY if you have typical symptoms of Corona.

It is still required to wear masks. We recommend to use FFP2 masks.

Please consult the detailed rules for your experimental work at PETRA III and FLASH on the right hand side of this page.

Allowed number of onsite participants

Six persons are allowed for experiments at PETRA III. In justified cases, exceptions to this rule are possible. Please contact oliver.seeck@desy.de (for beamlines P01-P14) and hans.christian.wille@desy.de (for beamlines P21.1-P24, P61-P65) for permission of more than six participants. But please do not send more persons than needed for the experiment.
Leader and PI of proposals with scheduled beamtimes will be informed via e-mail about changes of regulations.

General travel regulations for people coming to Germany↵

For all travelers from abroad a general obligation applies to furnish proof of vaccination, recovery or testing (max. 48h (PCR) old on entry) at entry (border crossing), irrespective of whether or not they have been in a risk area.

German authorities define specific risk areas for which additional travel regulations apply. Currently (24 March 2022), no risk areas are defined. Please check again before coming to DESY on the RKI webpage.

All travellers coming from newly defined an international risk area have to register online via Einreiseanmeldung

Please note different regulations for
1) 'high incidence areas'
For persons coming from a high incidence area a 10-day quarantine is required. As soon as a proof of complete vaccination (with a vaccine accepted by the EU ) or of recovery is uploaded via the online travel registration, the quarantine can be terminated.
For persons without vaccination or recovery, the quarantine can be termined after 5 days by uploading a negative test result.

2) 'areas of variant of concern' NO VISIT AT DESY POSSIBLE!

DESY Hostel does not offer quarantine rooms for DESY users
