The first high-resolution emission spectra were collected of conventional powder samples at room temperature. In December, the first user-group studied phase-transitions in several iron-compounds.
P64 is dedicated to X-ray absorption spectroscopy experiments, which require high flux. Among those are EXAFS of highly-diluted systems, e.g. bio-molecules with an active metallic center, quick EXAFS (QEXAFS) on the 20-100ms time-scale, and high-resolution spectroscopy with a dispersive fluorescence X-ray emission spectrometer in von-Hamos geometry (RXES). Other experiments, which require special set-ups and which profit from the high flux and small, focused beam, are also feasible and can be discussed with beamline staff. Beamline P64 is located in the P. P. Ewald Hall (PETRA III North Hall), which is close to the FLASH1 Hall. X-ray absorption spectroscopy finds applications in various research fields:
