DESY offers access to its facilities through several projects funded by the European Union. Proposals have to be submitted to the respective program's proposal portal.
Each programme offers travel reimbursement for two users. Reimbursement for NFFA is handled by DESY Photon Science User Office , Reimbursement for ReMade@ARI and RIANA is handled by the respective EU project.
General information
Please be prepared to create a DOOR account if plan to access DESY facilities through one of the above listed European programmes.
After approval of your NFFA | ReMade@ARI | RIANA proposal for access to DESY Photon Science facilities we will contact you and inform about access dates and how to prepare your experimental stay via DOOR.
All experiment participants have to register as user in DOOR as well, absolve the online safety training and send the signed certificate as indicated on the printout to door@desy.de. It is recommended to do this well before the start of your experiment to avoid any delay.
NFFA proposals for DESY NanoLab and PETRA III
The research project 'Nanoscience Foundries and Fine Analysis' (NFFA) is a project funded by the European Community's H2020 framework program and has received funding from the EU's H2020 framework programme for research and innovation under grant agreements NFFA-Europe (n. 654360 from 1/9/2015 to 28/02/2021) and, currently, NFFA-Europe-Pilot NEP (from 1/03/2021 to 28/02/2026)
The project goal is to provide coordinated access to infrastructures to carry out comprehensive projects for multidisciplinary research at the nanoscale extending from synthesis to nanocharacterization, theory and numerical simulation. NFFA•EUROPE enables coordinated access to infrastructures on different aspects of nanoscience research that is not currently available at single specialized ones and without duplicating their specific scopes.
Within this framework DESY provides access to the DESY NanoLab and PETRA III
For detailed information on regulations, proposal submission and deadlines please visit the NFFA website.
Travel reimbursement for NFFA visits to DESY are handled by the DESY Photon Science User Office. For regulations please see this website
ReMade@ARI proposals for PETRA III beamlines
ReMade@ARI provides scientists exploring the properties and structures of recyclable materials with a wide range of tailored services including easy, supported and coordinated access to more than 50 European analytical research infrastructures, user support and much more.
For detailed information on regulations, proposal submission and deadlines please visit the ReMade@ARI website.
Travel Reimbursement for ReMade@ARI beamtimes is handled by the ReMade@ARI office and not by DESY Photon Science User Office. For regulations and required documents please see the ReMade@ARI project webpage
RIANA proposals for PETRA III beamlines
RIANA is a Horizon Europe funded project which supports curiosity-driven research in nanoscience with open research questions for long-term impact, and challenge-driven research in nanotechnology with targeted research questions for short- and mid-term impact.
This core of RIANA is aligned to attract experienced and new users from academia or industry making their promising ideas a success and pushing them to higher TRL.
For detailed information on regulations, proposal submission and deadlines please visit the RIANA project website.
Travel Reimbursement for RIANA beamtimes is handled by the RIANA Office. For more information and required documents please refer to the RIANA project webpage
