Functional, colloidal and multiscale materials by layer-by-layer coating

3D printing, environmentally friendly processes, and coating methods need to be strengthened and implemented for paper-based flexible electronics. I am heavily using spray coating being scalable, fast, easy to process, layer-by-layer (LbL) and roll-to-roll (R2R) compatible. The underlying structure-forming dynamics are strongly in non-equilibrium. These processes need to be studied directly in situ and in real time to understand the structure formation from the molecular level to macroscopic sizes and the complex interplay of the different materials used. In particular, ultramodern X-ray methods available at DESY campus play a crucial role to quantitatively investigate and analyze all steps from dispersion into droplets to deposition and nanostructure formation.
