DESY and Hamburg have three brilliant X-ray sources – PETRA, FLASH and the European XFEL – which are used for research in a variety of fields, studying the structure of matter down to atomic scales. To make effective use of these sources, high-performance detectors are needed, such as extremely fast and sensitive X-ray cameras. The goal of the DESY photon science detector group (FS-DS) is to develop and build these X-ray detectors, and to provide support to experiments.
