The 'Heisenberg Resonant Inelastic X-ray Scattering' (h-RIXS) user consortium includes partners from Germany, Switzerland, Finland, France, Sweden, Italy and the UK. The project is coordinated by Potsdam University in close collaboration with DESY and European XFEL.

The two baseline SCS experiment stations at Europan XFEL are complemented with a chemistry station and the high-resolution spectrometer by the Heisenberg RIXS (hRIXS) user consortium. hRIXS is in full user operation with alternating proposal calls for the modular solid-state and chemistry sample environments. The spectrometer facilitate RIXS-type experiments at the transform limit in time and energy. Mainly Helmholtz research topics are investigated by the consortium, but the community has grown far beyond the initial proposers into a vibrant user community.
