Drawing of the Si (400)(10 6 4) High Resolution Monochromator at P01. The device has been built following a design from Tom Toellner from the Advanced Photon Source (APS) in Argonne, Illinois, USA. The total crystal asymmetry is chosen to be b=20 (APS: b=50).
High resolution monochromator for 57Fe
Si (400), (10 6 4)
4 crystal weak link setup designed by Tom Toellner (APS)
energy resolution 1.0 meV at 14.41 keV
flux ~1.2*10^10 photons / sec
measured efficiency > 30%
High resolution monochromator for 119Sn:
Si: (6 4 2), (12 12 12),
nested channel cut setup
energy resolution 0.7 meV at 23.88 keV
measured efficiency > 25%
measured flux 2*109 photons per second
PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO AN BEAM OFFSET OF 68MM THIS HRM CAN ONLY BE USED FOR EXPERIMENTS IN EH1 USING THE FULL FLUX. IT IS ALSO AVAILABLE FOR EH2 AND EH3, BUT WITH REDUCED FLUX TO ABOUT 30%DUE TO ADDITIONAL OFFSET OPTICS PLEASE CONTACT US TO DISCUSS YOUR PLANS BEFORE SENDING PROPOSALS FOR THIS DEVICE !
Sapphire Backscattering High Resolution Monochromator for transition energies between 20 and 40 keV:
The resolution is 1.0 meV at best (depends on the reflection geometry).
The backscattering geometry limits the choice of sample environments.
NIS-Experiments on 121Sb and 125Te at 37.13 keV and 35.6 keV have been performed succesfully.
Many other isotopes are reachable using this device ( 119Sn, 161Dy, 151Eu, ....).
Medium Resolution Monochromator for studies on 193Ir at 73 keV:
The resolution is about 150 meV. The flux within this bandwidth is 6*10 8 photons per second.
